Once I apply, how long before I am approved?
The processing time will take 24 hours or less after you apply. We are able to process orders faster if we receive your application before 12 pm EST.
Once you are approved, your software or terminal will be shipped expediently to you!
After processing a credit card payment how long before funds are deposited into my account?
In most cases, Visa, MasterCard and Discover will deposit the batch into your bank account on the next business day.
What documentation do I need for my business to set up a merchant account? Is a business license required?
The type of documentation required varies based on the type of business you have. The level of risk associated with your business also affects what documentation you may be asked to provide. You may not need to provide a business license with the other documentation, this is decided on a case by case basis as every business is unique.
To get a merchant account, can I use my personal checking account to connect for processed transactions? Or am I required to use a business checking account?
Your requirements will vary depending on how your business is set up. If you have a sole proprietorship, you will be able to use your personal checking account. If you have a corporation, you will need a business checking account.
If I want to process American Express or Discover with my account, do I need to have accounts already set up with them?
No, you don’t have to apply for anything in advance. We are here to help you, and we will take care of everything for you.
What is a discount rate?
A discount rate is charged to you as the merchant. It enables you to process bank cards as payment for your services and products.
What is an interchange fee, and why is it necessary?
The credit card company charges the interchange fee to you as the merchant. This fee allows you to process card-based payments. Generally, the fee is based on the total amount of the purchase. The percentage varies based on what card is being used to process the payment from one bank to another at the time of the transaction. Debit cards typically have a much lower fee than a credit card.
What is Visa's Fixed Acquirer Network (FANF) fee?
FANF, formerly known as a Network Participation Fee (NPF,) is a monthly fee charged by Visa for the ability to accept credit card charges.
-For in-person charges, the fee is mostly based on the number of locations your business has.
-For online charges, the fee is mostly based on your gross Visa processing value.
-FANF charges are calculated monthly but charged quarterly.
-This fee is non-negotiable and goes directly to Visa.
What do I have to do to be Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliant?
You need to install and maintain your firewall. This is important so you can protect your cardholder data.
Use unique passwords and security parameters.
You need to protect you and your cardholder’s data.
Data must be encrypted.
Anti-Virus software is required.
Create your access log, maintain it, and keep it secure.
Restrict access to cardholder information as a need-to-know login for employees.
Each of your employees should have a unique login with different levels of access to information.
All physical cardholder information needs to be locked in a secure location.
Create and track all access to cardholder information in a log.
Scan and test your system regularly.
Document and monitor your security policy to ensure all of your employees are aware of it.
